Microsoft will officially end it’s extended support for Windows 7 in January of next year (2020).
If you are one of the many home and small office users who have steadfastly kept Windows 7 in lieu of Windows 10, you are not alone. In fact, over 40% of current Windows systems are running Windows 7. What this means is there are quite a few of you out there who need to make some decisions.
Some of you may entertain the idea of keeping legacy Windows 7 running without the security patches. Please don’t do this. The patches are necessary and without them, you leave yourself vulnerable. It’s time to think about how you are going to update your home or small business computer.
Will you be in the market to purchase new hardware at that time? The average lifecycle of a PC is 3-5 years. If yours is older than this, it might be something to consider. Maybe you will simply just want to purchase a copy of Windows 10 outright during the upgrade process. Have you been thinking of switching to a Mac OS system instead?
There are things to consider.
